The fitted sheet goes around your mattress and earths you while you sleep. Below you will find how to connect it, how to wash it, and what to do if you have no earthed socket. This manual covers both sizes.
Connected in five steps

Take the fitted sheet out of the packaging. The earthing cable with plug is packed loose alongside it.

Pull the fitted sheet around your mattress, just like an ordinary one. The corners are 30 cm deep and take mattresses up to about that height.

Click the earthing cable onto the press stud in the corner of the sheet. You will feel it lock into place.

Put the plug into an earthed socket. Only the earth contact is used, never the live wire. This works on earthed sockets across Europe.

Sleep straight on it. Something may go over the top, but the less fabric in between, the better the contact.
Thirty to forty minutes a day is enough. One night of sleep goes well past that, and more does no harm.
Good to know
An ordinary fitted sheet may go over the top. Choose cotton, linen or wool. Natural fabric takes up moisture, and through that moisture the contact with your skin stays. Polyester and other synthetics do the opposite: they insulate, and then nothing happens at all. Handy if the earthing sheet feels cool, or if you simply want your own bedding on show.
Size not right? A fitted sheet has to sit tight around the mattress, so the measurement matters. If your mattress is a different size, look at the loose sheet or the sleeping mat. Those lie on top and may differ.
Building up slowly is fine. If you are sensitive, you may feel a light tingling the first few nights or sleep differently than usual. Start with an hour or two, or put an extra layer in between at first and take it away later. There is more about this in what you can feel and expect and in earthing for beginners.
Washing and care
The fitted sheet is 95% organic cotton and 5% conductive silver thread. Wash it at 40 degrees in the machine, as often as you like. If there are stains, an occasional wash at 60 is fine.
Use no bleach and no fabric softener. They settle on the silver thread and make it less conductive, so the earthing works less well.
Dry it on the line if you can. A tumble dryer works on the lowest setting, but on the line the sheet lasts longer.
No earthed socket?
An earthed socket has metal pins at the top and bottom as well as the two holes. If you cannot see those, the socket is not earthed.
If there is none in the house, there are two other ways. With the earthing pin you push the earth point into the ground outside and bring it in on fifteen metres of cable. With the alligator clip you clamp it onto an unpainted heating pipe or radiator. Both are explained in earthing without an earthed socket.
