The narrow sleeping mat (185 x 68 cm) lies on your mattress and earths you while you sleep. It is made of vegan leather, so it does not need washing and it does not slide away. Below you will find how to connect it, how to clean it, and what to do if you have no earthed socket.
Connected in five steps

Take the mat out of the packaging. The earthing cable with plug is packed loose alongside it.

Lay the mat on your mattress and fix it with the elastic straps. That keeps it in place, even when you turn.

Click the earthing cable onto the press stud on the mat. You will feel it lock into place.

Put the plug into an earthed socket. Only the earth contact is used, never the live wire. This works on earthed sockets across Europe.

Sleep straight on it, with bare skin against the mat. Something may go over the top, but the less fabric in between, the better the contact.
Thirty to forty minutes a day is enough. One night of sleep goes well past that, and more does no harm.
Good to know
A narrow mat also fits a double bed. Lay it crosswise over the bed at chest height. You earth through your upper body and not through your feet, so it works just as well. Handy if you want to earth and your partner does not.
A sheet may go over the top. Vegan leather feels cooler than cotton and does not suit everyone. Put a sheet of cotton, linen or wool over it. Natural fabric takes up moisture, and through that moisture the contact with your skin stays. Polyester and other synthetics do the opposite: they insulate, and then nothing happens at all.
Building up slowly is fine. If you are sensitive, you may feel a light tingling the first few nights or sleep differently than usual. Start with an hour or two, or put an extra layer in between at first and take it away later. There is more about this in what you can feel and expect and in earthing for beginners.
Cleaning
The mat is 100% vegan leather and cannot go in the washing machine. Clean it with a mild, natural soap well diluted with water. Wipe the mat with a damp cloth or a soft sponge.
Use no scouring agent and no aggressive cleaner. Those attack the top layer, and it is that layer which conducts.
No earthed socket?
An earthed socket has metal pins at the top and bottom as well as the two holes. If you cannot see those, the socket is not earthed.
If there is none in the house, there are two other ways. With the earthing pin you push the earth point into the ground outside and bring it in on fifteen metres of cable. With the alligator clip you clamp it onto an unpainted heating pipe or radiator. Both are explained in earthing without an earthed socket.
