Earthle Earthing Sleeping Mat

The wide sleeping mat lies loose on your mattress and covers most of it. You sleep straight on it, or under a thin fitted sheet. Elastic straps hold it in place, even if you toss and turn.

What makes this special

Vegan leather

Wipes clean with a cloth

The top surface feels smooth and cool and never needs washing. A damp cloth is enough. That is why a mat lasts longer than textile: nothing wears out in the drum.

Carbon through the whole material

Carbon, no thread

Instead of a thread there is carbon powder throughout the material. That makes the whole surface conduct equally well, even if you end up in a corner. There is nothing in it that can break.

The same connection

4.6 m cable

The cable from your sheet fits your mat too. One kind of plug for everything, with the same resistor inside, so you can swap parts between products.

Material and conductivity

How this mat conducts

Carbon powder is incorporated into this mat. It makes the surface electrically conductive.

  • Carbon powder in the matIncorporated into the mat material to provide conductivity.
  • No silver threadThe mat conducts through carbon, not through woven silver thread.
  • Clean with a clothDo not machine-wash or immerse in water.
  • Check it yourselfCheck conductivity with a multimeter; the manual explains how.
You do not have to do anything for it

You do not have to do anything for it

The mat goes on your mattress, the cable into the earth contact of your socket, and the rest happens by itself. No buttons, no settings, no battery. The hours you are asleep anyway do the work.

Thirty to forty minutes a day is already enough. Anyone using it in bed goes well past that without thinking about it.

Direct skin contact works best

Direct skin contact works best

You can put a thin fitted sheet over it; that still works. But the less fabric in between, the better the contact. Many people sleep with a sheet on top at first and leave it off later.

If the mat feels cool the first few nights, a thin sheet over it is a good way to get used to it.

All the details

What you actually get

You can put the sleeping mat beneath one thin cotton fitted sheet if you prefer your own bedding against your skin. How well that layer conducts depends on fabric, moisture and pressure. A thick mattress pad, waterproof protector or foam layer between you and the mat can greatly reduce contact; put those underneath it.

The mat adds a conductive layer, rather than mattress padding or heating. Your mattress still determines comfort. Position the mat so you keep contact with its surface when you turn over.

Connect

Connected in four steps

You are not connecting anything to the power. The cable goes only to the earth contact of a grounded outlet.

  1. 1

    Unpack

The mat, the earthing cable with plug and the scannable manual are in the packaging.

  2. 2

    Onto your mattress

Lay the mat on the mattress and secure it with the elastic straps at the corners.

  3. 3

    Plug in

The plug goes into an earthed socket. Only the earth contact is used, never the live.

  4. 4

    Sleep

A thin sheet over it is fine. If the faux leather feels cool to you, that solves it.

Inside

Why there is no thread in the mat

Wipes clean with a cloth

The top surface feels smooth and cool and never needs washing. A damp cloth is enough. That is why a mat lasts longer than textile: nothing wears out in the drum.

Carbon, no thread

Instead of a thread there is carbon powder throughout the material. That makes the whole surface conduct equally well, even if you end up in a corner. There is nothing in it that can break.

Non-slip and elastic straps

On your mattress the straps hold it in place, on the floor the texture of the underside does the work. If the mat slides away you lose contact, and then nothing happens.

4.6 m cable

The cable from your sheet fits your mat too. One kind of plug for everything, with the same resistor inside, so you can swap parts between products.

100k Ω
Inside

Inside the plug

The earth pin of your socket

The plug takes only the earth. That is the wire running from your house down to the earth rod in the ground. The socket does not even have to be switched on.

No mains voltage

The two holes the current normally comes out of are left untouched. There is no connection, so no current can run through your sheet or your mat.

100 kilo-ohm, you can measure it

In case a socket is ever wired wrongly, there is a resistor between the earth and you. Earthing works by equalising voltage, and that takes almost no current, so the resistor is not in the way. You can check it yourself with a multimeter.

One plug for everything

The same cable fits every Earthle product. If the socket is further away, you click the extension cable in between.

I purchased a grounding mat through a fellow student from my integral massage course. It piqued my interest, and once home, I decided to delve into it. I often wake up feeling tired after a good night's sleep and have trouble falling asleep, often making snoring sounds, according to my partner. I was skeptical but w...

Before you order

Most asked questions

Does the mat stay in place?

Yes. It has elastic straps that go around the corners of your mattress, like a fitted sheet. That keeps it from sliding when you turn over.

Does my mattress have to be exactly 137 wide?

No. The mat lies loose on top, so the size does not have to match. On a 140 mattress it covers almost everything, on 160 the largest part. If you have a narrower bed, look at the 185 × 68.

Can I put it in the washing machine?

No, the mat is made of faux leather. You wipe it clean with a damp cloth. The full care instructions are in the manual.

How do I connect it?

The earthing cable with plug is in the packaging. It goes into an earthed socket; only the earth contact is used, never the live wire. The plug contains a 100k ohm resistor.

And if I do not have a grounded outlet?

Then there are three ways. You push the earthing pin into the ground outside, with fifteen metres of cable running indoors. You clamp the alligator clip onto a bare radiator pipe or radiator. If the outlet is in another room, the fifteen metre extension cable bridges that. You will find all three under accessories.

Will I feel something straight away?

That differs from person to person. One person notices it the first night, another notices little or nothing. That does not mean nothing is happening: it is comparable to walking barefoot on grass, where you do not always feel anything either. You can read more about that in what you can feel and expect.

How long per day?

Thirty to forty minutes a day is already enough. Anyone who uses it in bed earths all night without trying. If you use it during the day, our blog has ten ways to fit it into your day.

Does it work through a sheet or clothing?

Direct skin contact works best. A thin sheet in between is fine, but the more fabric there is in between, the less contact you make.
