Does a grounding sheet work under a fitted sheet?

You do not always need to sleep directly on silver thread or vegan leather. One thin cotton fitted sheet can remain between you and the grounding product. Whether it conducts well enough in your bed depends on material, thickness, moisture and pressure. Measuring your setup is more useful than a universal promise.

Why thin cotton often conducts

Dry cotton is a weak conductor. Overnight, skin pressure, warmth and a small amount of perspiration usually lower contact resistance. The Earthle Earthing Sheet contains 95 percent organic cotton and 5 percent woven conductive silver thread and is specified for use under a fitted sheet.

That does not mean every layer works. A thick mattress pad, waterproof protector, fleece, wool or synthetic topper above the grounding product can greatly weaken contact. Put insulating layers below the grounding sheet or sleeping mat instead.

The most reliable order on the mattress

1. Mattress, plus any waterproof protector or thick mattress pad.
2. Earthle Earthing Sheet or Sleeping Mat, connected according to the instructions.
3. Optionally one thin clean cotton fitted sheet.
4. Your body, ideally with some bare skin under pressure against the surface.

An Earthle Fitted Sheet with silver thread can itself be the top layer. Sheet straps keep a flat sheet taut. The sleeping mat wipes clean and does not depend on an exact mattress size; a thin fitted sheet over it may feel warmer and protect the surface.

Silver thread and carbon perform the same electrical task

The textile products contain a conductive silver grid. Earthle mats use a conductive carbon-containing material. Both create a path to the grounding cable; the practical differences are comfort, washability, shape and wear.

Sleep trials do not establish that one material is superior. The 2004 work used a conductive mattress setup and the 2025 trial used an earthing mat. Neither comparison tested sheet against mat.

Test the bed as you actually use it

• Check continuity between the conductive surface and the snap.
• With the plug disconnected, verify the cable's 100 kΩ resistor.
• Compare body voltage without and with contact through the made-up bed.
• Repeat after several washes or when you change bedding.

Wash textile products at 40 degrees as labelled, without bleach or fabric softener. These products can damage fibres or leave a film on the conductive surface. Creams and oils can also coat it; a clean thin fitted sheet helps keep the grounding product cleaner.

Yes, it can work under one thin cotton fitted sheet. Direct skin contact gives the least uncertain connection. Measure your own bed when you want certainty.

Which Earthle product fits this use

Choose an Earthing Sheet for soft washable fabric, a Fitted Sheet when it must stay taut and a Sleeping Mat for a wipe-clean surface that fits many mattress sizes. All three make the same type of earth connection; comfort and use determine the best option.
