Grounding sheet not working? Check cable and surface
Grounding sheet or mat not working? Check the connection, cable, fabric and extra layers step by step, without probing your wall socket.
Define what not working means
Not noticing a difference is different from an interrupted electrical connection. A measurement can check contact, not confirm a health benefit. Start by checking the correct cable, a fully attached press stud and use according to the instructions.
Check the earth safely
Use a suitable socket tester or have an electrician assess the protective earth. A socket that looks grounded is not proof of correct wiring. Never insert loose probes or wires into a socket, or make your own connection to a radiator.
Test the disconnected cable
Remove the plug completely from the socket. Measure resistance between its earth contact and the metal press stud at the product end. Use a range above 100 kΩ. The Earthle plug and cable should read approximately 100 kΩ according to its specification. OL may indicate a break. A reading near zero does not match this cable: do not use it.
Check several areas of the surface
Keep the plug disconnected. Measure between the product’s press stud and different points on the conductive grid or mat, including the far corners. A finite resistance can show a conductive route; the value depends on material, test position and meter. A continuity beep alone is therefore not a complete assessment.
Rule out other causes
Check thick or dry layers, residue on the fabric and damage around the connector. See the washing advice and the explanation of additional bedding. Do not wet the fabric deliberately to obtain a favourable reading. If unsure, contact Earthle with the product name, photos and test setup. Read the safety guidance too.
